Solo – Tycho Brahe
Galileo Galilei solo: setting up Tycho Brahe, his Movement and Action tiles, every condition and effect icon, and how his game ends and scores.
The solo game
You play against Tycho Brahe, famous for his fine instruments. Score more points than he does to win — a tie is his. The game ends, as usual, when the Discovery deck runs out. Use the advanced side of your Character Board.
Setup

Build the Discovery deck for two players, set yourself up as usual, then for Tycho:
- His Character Board on the table.
- A spare player board folded in half beside it, telescope face down.
- His special Book token over all four library spaces.
- Comet and Constellation tokens of an unused colour on his board.
- Three dice of random colours. Their values never matter.
- His five Action tiles in a row, any order, blue side up; his telescope below the leftmost.
- His Movement tiles shuffled into a face-down deck.
- His University tokens on the stairs, Tribunal token at –3, Score token on 0.
The checklist is on the Setup page (choose 1 player).
[Moon] With Luna, add his sixth Action tile and choose a difficulty (Luna solo).
Tycho’s turn
You always go first; Tycho plays after each of your turns.
- Move: turn the top Movement tile. Tycho’s telescope moves that many tiles to the right, wrapping from the rightmost back to the leftmost.
- Evaluate the Action tile he stops on, one row at a time from the top. Take the first row whose light condition on the left he meets, and only that row. The bottom row has no condition: he can always take it.
- A shuffled-out Movement deck is reshuffled.

| Movement tile type | Effect |
|---|---|
| Plain number | Move that many tiles |
| Number with an orange stop mark | Move that many tiles, but stop early on reaching an upgraded tile |
| 0 with the upgrade icon | Upgrade the tile under his telescope, or the nearest one to its right if already upgraded. He takes no action this turn |
Conditions
| Condition | Met when |
|---|---|
| Two unpersuaded Inquisitors | Two or more Inquisitors on the leftmost (–4) space of his cellar |
| Three persuaded Inquisitors | Three or more on the rightmost (+1) space |
| Two (or three) dice | He spends that many dice of any colours |
| Two dice and two open spots | He spends two dice and the display has at least two free constellation spots |
| Comet | At least one Comet token still on his player board |
A rounded bar on the bottom row is a partial condition: if met, Tycho also does the effects to its right.
Effects
| Effect | What Tycho does |
|---|---|
| One of his comets onto the game board | |
| Move a comet | One comet down (1 → 2, or 2 → Book of Comets), 2s first; it takes the leftmost free page of the 2-player section and he gets no reward, not even points |
| Any colour, no limit | |
| That many spaces right; no rewards, not even points | |
| Up one row on the Scale whose subject he has met most often; ties go to the leftmost. No rewards | |
| Move an Inquisitor right, choosing the move that best improves the next interrogation | |
| Return one fully persuaded Inquisitor | |
| Score the number shown | |
| His leftmost token on the free spot with the highest dice cost; ties to the leftmost. He scores its points only | |
| Take the card whose Major Object scores most into his library, score it, ignore other rewards and refill the display | |
| Top card of the deck into his library, light side up |
Solo rules
- If Tycho moved an Inquisitor, he is interrogated at the end of his turn as usual.
- He scores only from his Action tiles, his observations and the end-game scoring.
- He achieves university objectives and places Achievement tokens, scoring them, but never takes Inquisitor’s Farewell.
- He never gets Inquisitors from cards — only from his tiles.
End of the solo game
When the last Discovery card is drawn, finish the round, then you and Tycho each play one more turn. Score Tycho’s university, Inquisitors and Reputation exactly like a player’s.
