Cards & Components
Every Galileo Galilei component face: Discovery cards, the twelve Action tile faces, Subject tiles and objectives, Scale tiles, tokens, Tycho's solo tiles and the Luna pieces.

Boards
Character boards
Four astronomers in the base game, eight with Luna. The basic side is the same for all; the advanced side has a special ability and personal pieces (Advanced game).

Cards
Discovery cards
33 cards in three tiers (the back shows the tier: I, II or III). The deck you build depends on the player count (Setup).

Each card shows, from top to bottom:
- The tier and the Major Object: its cost in a two-colour shield, its
victory
points and, on some cards, an
Inquisitor (Observing a Major Object). - One constellation with one to three spots, each with a one-colour dice cost and its rewards (Observing constellations).
- The library row of four rewards that line up with your library (Library).
Pay a Major Object with dice of only its two shown colours, at least one of each. A constellation spot is paid separately: two different spots may be covered in one Observe, even from different cards, but never a spot already covered by a token. Completing all spots does not claim that card’s Major Object; a face-down reward card counts as a library card only. You may keep any number of cards in your library, and may still observe when you cannot use one of the rewards. Observing. Once you begin an action, take each reward as far as you can; Inquisitor’s Farewell is the exception and may be declined. FAQ FAQ FAQ FAQ FAQ FAQ FAQ FAQ

![]() | Major Object: Tier I, purple 7 for 5 VP. Leo: yellow 5 for 6 VP and an Inquisitor. Library: Inquisitor, red +1, die, 2 VP. |
![]() | Major Object: Tier II, purple 9 for 9 VP. Cetus: yellow 4 for 3 VP, or red 5 for 9 VP and 2 Inquisitors. Library: Lecture, 2 VP, blank, Inquisitor. |
Values read from the rulebook pictures. The other 26 cards (including Luna, orange 8 → 7 VP + Inquisitor, from the rulebook’s example) are not shown in full: check against the physical component. Cards taken face down for a constellation reward go into your library light side up and count only for their library row. In solo, Tycho never gains an Inquisitor from a card. When the deck runs out, the game ends even if its last card was a constellation reward; if an empty-deck reward gives a card in the final round, take a random unused Tier III card. FAQ FAQ FAQ
Tiles
Action tiles
Six tiles per player, the same set for everyone: a light basic side and a gold upgraded side — twelve faces (The Action tiles). Each face offers two options; choose one.

[Moon] Isaac Newton and Maria Cunitz use their own tiles (Luna characters).

Character-specific tiles
| Picture | Component and play effect |
|---|---|
![]() | Kepler picks one of the tile’s two options; taking its moving action also lets him choose one of the two swaps. It cannot swap itself, and the +2 option must affect two different dice. FAQ FAQ FAQ |
![]() | Copernicus lays a tile as a free action, covering library rewards; tiles may be sideways, but not upside down. FAQ |
![]() | Bruno’s personal cellar has five spaces; see the printed values and scoring consequences on his Character page. |
![]() | Each mirror multiplies its chosen basic or upgraded effect by the position it occupies; at the top it pays four times. |
![]() | Venus advances across the Sun as Sophia’s telescope passes Upgrade. She takes visible Sun rewards only when she carries out an Observe action. FAQ |
Subject tiles
Six double-sided tiles. Four go arch side up above the Scale tiles as the end-game subjects; two go niche side up on the ? spaces as objectives (Objectives).

| Picture | Score or objective |
|---|---|
![]() | Arch — Major Objects: score once per Major Object in your library, multiplied by your University token’s row. |

![]() | Arch — Books: count spaces moved by your leftmost Book token, then multiply by your University row. |
![]() | Niche — Books: all four Book tokens must reach at least the third library space; the starting area does not count. FAQ |
![]() | Arch — Inquisitors: count those remaining in your cellar at game end; multiply by your University row. |
![]() | Niche — Inquisitors: have 6 Inquisitors in your cellar at once. |
![]() | Arch — Upgrades: count upgraded Action tiles and multiply by your University row. |

When you complete an objective, score its points and you may also take Inquisitor’s Farewell; that Farewell is optional. Objectives. FAQ
Printed objectives
Two objectives are printed on the board and always in play (Objectives):
| Objective | Condition |
|---|---|
![]() | 2 Major Objects, 2 constellations and 2 comets |
![]() | Two University tokens at the top of their Scale tiles |
Scale tiles
Six double-sided tiles; four are used. The number in each row is your end-game multiplier, the icon beside it the reward for climbing there (Subjects and Scale tiles). Every row number is a multiplier even when the × is missing. The rulebook does not fix which side faces up; groups may choose randomly. FAQ FAQ

His Movement tiles show how far his telescope moves; an orange stop mark makes him stop early on an upgraded tile, and the 0 tile upgrades instead (Tycho’s turn).

The rulebook picture shows 0, 3, 2, 2 and 1; which of them carry the stop mark: check against the physical component. The 0 tile upgrades and ends his turn without taking an Action tile. FAQ FAQ
