Lumber and Workshop
Woodcraft's free actions on dice: trees and lumber, tree growth, harvesting, sawing, splicing and gluing, tile-reuse tokens and once-per-turn helpers.
Trees and lumber
A die in a pot is a tree; your other dice are lumber. Sawing, splicing, gluing and helper abilities that change a die only work on lumber.
Tree growth
At the start of each of your turns, before anything else, every tree grows by 2 pips — a 5 grows to 6, nothing goes beyond 6. Turn the dice to their new values.
Harvesting a tree
As a free action, at any time on your turn, move a die from a pot to your lumber pile — even one you planted this turn. A tree that reaches 6 moves to your lumber pile at once.
Sawing lumber
Free action:
- Flip one of your face-up sawing tiles to its
side; it stays used until the next income phase. - Choose a die of any colour that is not a 1.
- Take dice of the same colour from the bank: the first is the cut your sawing tile makes; each further die is an extra cut costing 1
sawblade token. - Set your die and the new ones to values that add up to the original value.
Splicing scrapwood
Free action:
- Return a
scrapwood token to the bank. - Flip one of your face-up splicing tiles to its
side. - Raise one die by an amount that tile allows (1; 1–2; or 1–4), to at most 6.

Gluing lumber
Free action, once you have the gluing tile:
- Return a
glue token to the bank. - Choose two of your dice that add up to 6 or less.
- Set one to the sum and return the other. If the colours differ, you choose which colour to keep.
- If the colours were different, score 4 points at once (on the scoreboard, not the income track).
- Flip the gluing tile to its
side.

Tile-reuse tokens
Some helpers, orders and wheel bonuses give a
tile-reuse token. As a free action, return it to the bank to use one face-down sawing, splicing or gluing tile again.

Once-per-turn abilities
A helper ability marked
can be used once on each of your turns, as a free action, including the turn you place the helper. Several different once-per-turn helpers can each be used.
