Orders and Tools
Placing and completing Woodcraft orders, the row rewards and penalties, hazelnut orders and public contracts, and tools in the attic.
Placing orders
You place one order at the start of the game, one at each of the first three income phases (from your hand), and any you take with Choose Orders, which are placed at once. An order goes beside your board in the row matching the icon in its top-left corner. A row may hold several orders.

Completing orders
Free action, as often as you can pay, if you have what an order beside your board shows:
- Return the dice and tokens it asks for to the bank. Dice must match colour and value exactly.
- Gain the reward printed on the order.
- Gain the reward — or pay the penalty — of the row it is in now.
- Keep the order face down by your board. If someone asks how many you have, answer truthfully.
Dice icons on orders:

| This value, any colour | |
| Any die |

Row rewards and penalties
At each income phase every unfinished order slips down one row, so the sooner you finish an order, the better.

Penalties never take you below the start of the reputation track or the scoreboard.
Hazelnut orders and public contracts
Each player starts with 2 hazelnut orders. Like your other starting orders, they are placed at the start or at an income phase. Their special reward is
claim a public contract: put one of your counters on a public contract beside the wheel board; it scores at the end (contracts).

- Several players may claim the same contract in the same round. At the end of that round, remove it from the row so nobody else can claim it; keep it where its claimers can see it.
- If you don’t want — or can’t — claim a contract, take the blueberries and points shown on the order instead.
Tools in the attic
Tools are rectangular tokens. When you gain one —
a given type or
any type — place it at once on an empty space of your attic.
| Tool | |

| Wrench | |
| Mallet | |
| Scraper | |

- At first only the bottom row is open. A space above opens once the two spaces below it are filled, like a pyramid.
- The two arched spaces at the ends of the top row open as soon as the top-row space beside them is filled.
- When you place a tool, check each neighbouring space: if it holds a different type, gain the reward printed between the two.

If a tool type runs out, take another tool of your choice.
