End of Game and Scoring
How Vinhos Special Vintage 2016 ends: the one more action after the third Fair, final scoring of money, wines, export majorities and Multiplier tiles, and the tie-breaks.
The game ends after the third Wine Tasting Fair, at the end of year 6, with one last action for everyone and then the final scoring.
Points during the game
Most VP are scored as you go, on the Score track
:
| Source | VP | Rules |
|---|---|---|
| The VP on the Export slot | Export | |
| 9/6/3, 12/8/4, 15/10/5 | Fair ranking and VP |
Purple VP symbols
on the board and tiles are only scored at the end.
The last action
After the third Fair move the Year/Taxation marker to the circle right of the Fair icon (
).
Starting with the current first player, in the Player Order, each player takes one more action on
the Quadrel, as usual. You may still use one face-up Wine Expert and one face-up Magnate Action tile.
- Nothing flips face up after the third Fair: only what you have not used is available.
- The Vintage tile does not change.
- There is no Press Release — no Fair is coming — so the centre space can only pass.
Final scoring
Score, in any order:
Money
Your Bagos score by the table printed on the board
. What the rulebook’s final-scoring
example confirms:
| Bagos | VP |
|---|---|
| 5 or more | 3 |
| 10 or more | 7 |
| 15 or more | 12 (forum answer; check your board) |
| 20 or more | 18 (the table stops here) |
The rulebook gives 3 VP for 6 Bagos, 7 VP for 14, and 18 VP both for 20 and for 25 Bagos. One forum answer lists 20 VP for 20 Bagos, which contradicts that example — check the value printed on your board.
Wines
Each Wine tile left on your board scores half its Quality, rounded down (Value bonuses do not count).
Export majorities
Each country (column) of the Export area gives the VP printed at its top to the player with most barrels in it. Tied players split those VP, rounded down. With 2 players only the 2-player frame counts.
Multiplier tiles
Each
Multiplier tile with a barrel on it scores as described on the tile, up to the
maximum printed in its corner. A tile without a barrel scores 0.
| Multiplier | Higher / lower tile |
|---|---|
| Each Estate with all 3 slots filled | 4 / 3 VP |
| Each Magnate tile you own (Action and Multiplier, this one included) | 2 / 1 VP |
| Each barrel you took back from the Magnates | 2 / 1 VP |
| Each Winery | 2 / 1 VP |
| Each Wine tile on your board | 2 / 1 VP |
| Each Vineyard | 2 / 1 VP |
| Each Enologist | 3 / 2 VP |
| Each Farmer | 3 / 2 VP |
| Each Cellar | 3 / 2 VP |
| Each Wine Expert, face up or down | 2 / 1 VP (16 VP cap since the designer’s change) |
| Each export majority you hold / each tie (one tile) | 4 / 2 VP |
| Money (one tile) | Use the tile’s own money values instead of the board’s |
The maximum each tile prints is listed on the Cards & Components page where it can be read.
Tie-breaks
Most VP wins. If tied: most barrels in the Export area; then most money.
Final scoring example
[Connoisseur] A double-sized tile counts as one tile for Multiplier scoring but can complete an Estate with only two tiles (Connoisseur).
[Islands] The Açores Estate can fill all three slots with Vineyards (Islands).
