Tips & Strategy
Teach Snow Planner through dice strength, guest income and window planning.
How to teach it
Start with the no-rolling rule and show two placements: a strong die on an early space, then the same die facing a −2 penalty. Show a Guest’s Day 1 payment and the Windows it needs to remain. Resolve a complete round before explaining every possible Event.
Your first game
- Plan the next guest income before spending the resources that keep that guest in the hotel.
- Train a worker early enough to use its stronger face over several rounds. Reaching 6 unlocks powerful compound actions, but spreading Tickets too thin can delay them all.
- Match early Windows to your Talent’s unlock pattern and the Guests you can retain. Placement bonuses help fund the next step.
- Read the announced Round card before committing workers; reserve what its later payment needs.
- Watch 8 points: the third worker starts acting next round. An extra early round of work is valuable.
First-game rehearsal
Give a player a strength-4 worker and point to a −2 space. Ask what it produces before spending resources, then after one Snow. It acts at 2, then at 4; it never becomes strength 6.
Ask a second player to resolve Payment, Window Bonus and Check-out in that order. The Window income can fund the later stay, but a Guest must not advance before collecting the current Day reward.
Expansions and player counts
At three players, point out the blocked −1 spaces before anyone chooses an action. At four, the race for early placements makes next round’s Summit order worth considering.
[Season] New Season rewards connecting House colors to Score Tracks and choosing Public Works races you can actually reach. [Co-op] New Challenge needs a shared Project-and-Window plan and every Hotel’s score matters for the average. Discuss resource transfers before exhausting Dog Sleds.
Videos versus the rulebook
Use the second-edition setup and publisher clarifications: five Goals at every count, Station refill after each taking action, and the corrected solo Likes multiplier. A Talent bonus triggers once per separate gain, not per token. The publisher’s current rulebook and rulings take priority over an older video example.
