New Season

Snow Planner: new season.

Short tag: [Season]. Requires the base game. New Guests and Partners, Events, Talents, Projects, Score Tracks and Public Works add to the same eight-round game.

Components and setup

New Season Station and Public Works setup

Picture key: 1 Station and 11 Score Tracks; 2 Public Works, 3 Bonus tiles and 17 Milestones; 4 Guests, 5 Projects, 6 Events, 7 Goals, 8 Goal tokens and 9–10 action overlays (setup).

  1. Join the Station board to the Slope board; use the Public Works side for the player count.
  2. Mix the 29 expansion Guests (14 purple Partners and five of each base color) into the Guest deck, and all 49 expansion Events into the Event deck. Add the 15 Windows to the supply.
  3. Replace base Projects with 30 New Season Projects, shuffling with the cost side face up; reveal three.
  4. Mix in the two new Goals and still reveal five Goals. Put out the three Goal tokens and Trigger cards.
  5. Use the new Snow/Restaurant/Promotion action overlay for the player count, Project Action tile, and each player’s Hotel Bonus tile.
  6. Each player takes seven cubes: four start at zero on the Score Tracks and three are available for Public Works. Put a Score Token at 22 on Promotion.
  7. Deal eight Events and three Talents to each player; discard three Events, keep five, and choose one Talent. Use updated Prudence/Hospitality Talents with the expansion.
  8. Reveal player count +2 Milestones. In reverse turn order, each player chooses one; at four players, the first player does not choose, so use three. Put them on Public Works.
  9. Randomly prepare three face-down Bonus tiles for 1–2 players, or all four for 3–4 players.

The two English/Japanese printings of a Talent are alternatives, not two separate abilities. Replacement Round cards duplicate the second-edition base cards; do not mix duplicate copies into the deck.

Projects and Windows

The die placed in Project Area controls your choices:

ValueSelection
1–2The Project at that space.
3Any displayed Project A–C.
4Any displayed Project or the top of the face-up deck.
5–6First discard any displayed Projects you choose, refill A→B→C, shuffle discards beneath the deck; then choose any displayed Project or deck top.

Pay the front cost and receive the front reward, then turn the Project over. Its colored back supplies one House icon. Place a Window on its back for an additional House icon of that color. A Window gained from that very Project can go straight onto its back. Refill a taken display slot immediately.

Windows on Project backs count for Bonus and Check-out. A Window movement effect may move one between Hotel and Project spaces and grants the new space’s placement reward.

Score tracks and Partners

Whenever you acquire a Guest or VIP, advance the matching color track by one. Blue/orange/green stop at the end. A purple Partner also grants the effect of its reached purple space; at the maximum, repeat the last space’s benefit on later Partner acquisitions.

When Promotion reaches or passes 22, advance any one Score Track by one; the Score Token stays where it is. Partners occupy rooms and follow Payment/Check-out like Guests, using their own printed conditions.

Public Works

As soon as you meet a Milestone, put your cube into its highest free rank. If several achieve it simultaneously outside Main, current turn order breaks the tie. Each rank holds one cube; at four players the fourth finisher has no rank.

The first finisher privately examines the remaining Bonus tiles, keeps one face down and returns the rest. A kept tile is a one-use free action: choose its front or back effect, then return it to the box. Rank positions give points at game end.

Goal triggers

When you play a Goal, mark it with a Goal token so it cannot be played again, and add a Trigger card to your hand. That Trigger counts as an Event card for hand quantities/costs. The three-Goal limit is shared by the whole table.

Scoring

After round 8, add each blue/orange/green Score Track value multiplied by your matching House icons. An unadvanced track has value 1. Add Public Works rank points. A full Hotel Window grid earns 5 points, replacing the base 3-point bonus.

For ties compare Hotel Windows, then total Windows, then Guests in rooms/Check-out, then the higher Opening Guest number.

Optional Snowman

Four players only. Give it to the highest Opening Guest number. During Main, its one-use +1 offsets a negative placement modifier; it cannot exceed the die’s face. During Cleaning, use it for 1 point instead. Pass it to the next lower Opening Guest number, wrapping 1 to the highest. A recipient during Main can use it on their next turn; a Cleaning recipient waits until next round. If unused, keep it.
