Sawmill Manager Actions
Forestry's sawmill manager on the outer ring: moving between HQ tiles and their rewards, the nine sawmill buildings, and upgrading a sawmill building.
The outer ring of the board is the sawmill area: three complexes — light green, dark green and orange — each with an HQ tile and three sawmill buildings. Your sawmill manager always stands on one of the three HQ tiles and never enters a building.
Moving the sawmill manager
For 1 action point, move your manager to a different HQ tile. You may then
take one reward from that tile, chosen by how many managers stand there after you arrive:
- In a 2-player game each HQ tile has one reward; with 3–4 players, two.
- Take the reward for that number of managers (the 1st reward if you are alone, the 2nd if you are the second manager, and so on). More managers than rewards: nothing.
- Alone on a tile, you may take its second reward instead of the first. FAQ
The first reward on the HQ tiles lets you buy a wood adjustment, a task card or any resource for 1 coin. Pictures: Cards & Components.
Sawmill buildings
For 1 action point, use a building in the complex where your manager stands. Use several buildings, or the same one again, as long as you have action points — no need to move.
Some rewards let you use a building in any complex
; then your manager stays put.
Each complex has one building of each type:
- Contracts — take a contract or a task card, or trade wood for coins.
- Resources — 1 coin and a resource.
- Wood adjustment — put that complex’s adjustment token under a wood in your storage. A wood takes at most 2 adjustments.

Upgrading a sawmill building
You may upgrade a building in the complex where your manager stands. Upgraded buildings
are stronger, and every player may use them.
- Pay 1 action point and the upgrade cost at the bottom left of the tile.
- Flip the tile and put your leftmost building token on its bottom-left corner. Your fifth building token also moves the water structures track up one step.
- Use the upgraded building at once, free.
Income: with 3–4 players you take 1 coin from the supply each time an opponent uses your
upgraded building (also when they trigger it with
). With 2 players you take the coin
whenever either player uses it — you included. FAQ
