Contracts and Task Cards
Forestry's contracts: wood adjustments, fulfilling simple and double contracts, the four contract categories, and task cards with their free action and end-game goal.
Wood adjustments
The three sawmill complexes each treat wood one way:

- An adjustment token always goes under a wood token already in your storage — you can’t take one in advance.
- Once placed it can’t be moved or removed. A wood holds at most 2 adjustments; their order doesn’t matter.
- Exchanging a wood discards its adjustments.
Fulfilling a contract
You start with one starting contract and may hold any number of contracts. Each asks
for certain wood tokens, some with certain adjustments. You may hold any number (FAQ).
- Pay 1 action point.
- Return the matching wood tokens, with their adjustment tokens, to the supply.
- Take the rewards on the right of the card.
- Slide the card under the left side of your player board, its category symbol visible.
Simple and double contracts

- A simple contract must be fulfilled completely, for all its rewards.
- A double contract has two halves. Always fulfil the upper half — alone for the upper rewards, or with the lower half too for both rewards. Never the lower half alone.
Contract categories
Each contract shows one or two of four category symbols at its top left:
| Symbol | Category |
|---|---|
| Furniture | |
| Buildings | |
| Innovations | |
| Accessories |
Categories score through river tokens and task cards at the end. A card with two symbols counts for one of them, chosen at the end, for all scoring. Starting contracts all have two symbols, and show at the bottom right the HQ colour where your manager starts.
Task cards
Task cards are hidden from the other players; hold as many as you like. Take a task
card from the top of the deck or the face-up one (replace it at once). The game round token showing
a task card with a question mark gives each player the top card of the deck only.
Each card has two halves:
- Top — a free action. Once a turn, discard one task card for its top effect, then put it under the task deck.
- Bottom — an end-game goal. Keep the card to the end and fulfil its goal to score.
| Top effects | |
|---|---|
| Pay 3 coins: 1 forester token of any type | Pay 2 coins: move the harvester to any free space |
| 1 wood adjustment of any type | Pay 3 coins: 1 wood of any type |
| Pay 2 coins: use a building in any sawmill area | Gain the resource shown |
| Gain 2 stars | Gain 3 coins |
| Take a contract on display (FAQ, FAQ) | Exchange 1 wood in storage for any wood (adjustments discarded) |
| Goal on the task card | How to meet it |
|---|---|
| A fulfilled contract with the matching category symbol (FAQ) | Use a separate matching contract for each task card. |
| 2 seedlings in the shown reforestation column | Both must be in that column; each area can satisfy only one such card. |
| A forester token of the matching type | Have one token of that type. |
| An upgraded sawmill building in the shown area | The building must be upgraded and in the pictured area. |
| A forest building next to the shown harvest token (FAQ) | Use a separate matching building for each task card; the tree need not be harvested. |
| A river token (FAQ) | The river token counts; its printed symbol does not add a separate matching item. |
Fulfilled task cards score by how many you fulfil (Task cards; FAQ). Unfulfilled ones count as unused resources.
