Solo Game
Ark Nova alone: the solo tile instead of the Break token, 6 breaks and a target of at least 0 points.
Setup changes
- 3 Base Conservation Projects, with no blocking tokens (as for 3 players). Up to 2 Conservation Project cards fit above the Association board.
- No Break token: put 7 player tokens of an unused colour on the left column of the solo tile.
- You start with 20 appeal
(10, or even 0, for a harder game).
Playing alone
- Cards with an interactive ability have a blue strip with a solo effect: use that instead (1 Final Scoring card and several Animals).
- Anything that would move the Break token does nothing — but you still take any money tied to it (Jumping 3 still gives 3 money; upgraded Sponsors at strength 4 still gives 8).
- You never get an X-token for “reaching” the end of the Break track.
Breaks and the end
At the end of every turn, move the top token of the left column to the space on its right. When the last token of the left column moves (showing the break icon), a break happens at once:
- Put the top token on the lowest open donation space of the Association board (next to the 12 space once only that one is left).
- Move the other tokens back to the left column — one row fewer each time.
- Do break steps 1–5 (Break); skip step 6.
After 6 breaks only 2 tokens are left; when you move the bottom one, there is no further break: go to final scoring. With 7 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 tokens that makes 27 turns.
You win with at least 0 victory points (your counters met or crossed).
Solo challenge
Play 3 games in a row without reshuffling: remove everything used in a game (discard pile, display, your cards, all conservation projects, the 2 zoo maps you chose from and the 4 Bonus tiles). In the third game use 3 random removed Bonus tiles. Removed cards stay out, except for the Assertion and Dominance abilities. Total your 3 scores: at least 0 passes the challenge.
