Game End and Scoring
When the game ends, final scoring cards and how appeal and conservation become victory points.
Game end
The end is triggered when, at the end of your turn or during a break, your conservation counter and your appeal counter are in the same scoring area, or have passed each other. A scoring area is one space of the Conservation track with the Appeal spaces next to it (framed in white on the board).
- Triggered at the end of your turn: every other player takes one more turn, then final scoring (you don’t play again).
- Triggered in a break: everyone, you included, takes one more turn.
A break that happens during those last turns is still played.
Final scoring
- If nobody reached 10 conservation points, everyone now discards one of their 2 Final Scoring cards.
- Score your Final Scoring card(s): 1–4 conservation points
each, counting your
universities and the cards in front of you. - Score every card with an end-of-game effect (brown strip): appeal or conservation.
The 5, 8 and 10 bonuses of the Conservation track are not gained during final scoring. Neither track goes past its end (113 appeal, 41 conservation).
Determining victory points
- Find the scoring area your conservation counter stands in.
- Its lowest appeal value is your target number.
- Victory points = your appeal − the target number (negative if you are short).
Rulebook example: Blue has 16 conservation (target 76) and 72 appeal → −4. Red has 18 conservation (target 70) and 79 appeal → +9.
Highest victory points wins. Tie: the player who supported the most conservation projects (count the player tokens gone from the left of the zoo map). Still tied: shared win.
