Siege
Fortifications, siege tactics and four new units: Trebuchet, Siege Tower, War Wagon and Sapper.
Siege (2020) adds Fortifications, Siege Tactics and 4 new units. Setup changes are in Setup under “Play with Siege”.
Components
- 19 unit coins and 4 unit cards
- 7 Fortification Coins
- 6 Fortification Map cards

Setup changes
Draw one Fortification Map card at random and put 4 Fortification Coins where it shows; keep the other 3 beside the board as the supply. With Nobility, do this when the decrees are dealt, before the draft.

Fortifications
A Fortification sits on a location. It is not a unit, but it can be attacked like one.
- Units may enter a neutral or friendly location with a Fortification, never an enemy one: attack the Fortification first.
- A multi-space move can’t pass through a Fortification’s location.
- A unit standing in a Fortification can’t be attacked until the Fortification is gone.
- Any attack that could hit a unit can hit a Fortification. A hit Fortification goes back to the supply.
Siege Tactics
The Trebuchet, Siege Tower and War Wagon have a Siege Tactic. It works like any tactic, but the unit must be bolstered to use it.
New units
Trebuchet
5 coins. Siege Tactic: attack a unit two or three spaces away in a straight line; the spaces between may hold units. Restriction: it attacks only with this tactic.
Siege Tower
5 coins. Siege Tactic: attack twice. Attribute: when you deploy it, you may bolster it at once with a coin from its supply.
War Wagon
4 coins. Siege Tactic: move an adjacent friendly unit, then move the War Wagon into the space it left. Attribute: when an adjacent friendly unit is attacked, you may remove the coin from the War Wagon instead.
Sapper
5 coins. Siege Tactic: move, then attack a Fortification. Attribute: when it moves to a location without a Fortification, you may put one there from the supply.
Map cards
Only one of the six Fortification Map cards is pictured here. The other five: To be added.
