Four Players and Drafting
Team play for four, and the advanced draft for two or four players.
Four-player game
Two teams of two face off, one faction per team. The setup differences are in Setup: each player gets 3 units, a bag of 7 coins and their own Royal Coin; each team shares 8 Control Markers and starts with 3 locations. The whole board is used, including the darker hexes.

Turn order
Teammates sit opposite each other, so the teams alternate around the table. The initiative holder acts first, then play goes clockwise, one coin per turn, until every hand is empty.
Team play
- The team shares its locations: either teammate may deploy onto an empty location the team controls.
- “Friendly” on a card means your units and your teammate’s.
- You can’t recruit for your teammate, and you can’t claim the initiative from your teammate.
- Talk freely, but out loud: the other team hears everything. You may not show your coins.
Winning as a team
The team that places its last Control Marker wins at once.
Advanced draft
Experienced players draft their units instead of being dealt them.
Two players
- Deal 8 unit cards face up.
- Flip the Initiative Marker to see who drafts first.
- The first player takes 1 card, then players alternate taking 2 at a time, until the first player takes the last card.
- The player who drafted second starts with the Initiative Marker.
Four players
- Deal 12 unit cards face up and flip the Initiative Marker: that team drafts first and picks its first drafter.
- Clockwise, each player takes 1 card. The fourth player takes 2.
- Counter-clockwise back to the first player, 1 card each.
- Then clockwise again from the second player, 1 card each, until the first player takes the last card.
