Nobility
Royal Decrees, the Proclaim action, four new units and the new Royal Guard card.
Nobility (2019) adds Royal Decrees, a new action that uses them, 4 new units (Bannerman, Bishop, Earl, Herald) and a replacement Royal Guard card. Setup changes are in Setup under “Play with Nobility”.
Components
- 19 unit coins and 4 unit cards
- 7 Royal Decree cards and 6 Proclamation Seals (3 per faction)
- 16 faction Control Markers
- The new Royal Guard card (see Units)
Setup changes
- Before dealing units, deal 3 Royal Decrees face up for both sides; box the other 4. Each side takes its faction’s 3 Seals.
- Add the 4 new unit cards (20 in all), deal 8 face up (12 with four players) and draft.
Proclaim
A fourth kind of action: discard the Royal Coin face up to proclaim.
- Pick one of the 3 decrees that doesn’t already hold one of your Seals and put a Seal on it. Your opponent’s Seal doesn’t block you, so each decree can be used once per side.
- Do what the decree says. You can’t pick a decree you can’t carry out in full.
Bold words on decrees (move, attack, deploy…) are normal actions, so unit abilities react to them as usual. With four players the team shares its 3 Seals.
Royal Decrees
| Decree | Effect |
|---|---|
| Sacrifice | A friendly unit attacks, then removes one of its own coins |
| March | Move a friendly bolstered unit |
| Guard | A friendly unit on a location you control attacks |
| Enlist | Recruit twice |
| Redeploy | Take a friendly unit off the board, then deploy it |
| Reinforce | Put one of your coins that was removed from play back in your supply |
| Spy | Look at an opponent’s hand; you may discard one of their coins, and if you do they draw another |
New units
Bannerman
4 coins. Attribute: after the Bannerman maneuvers, you may move one adjacent enemy unit one space.
Bishop
5 coins. Tactic: recruit, then move or attack. Attribute: bolstered units can’t
attack it.
Earl
5 coins. Tactic: control a location, then proclaim without placing a Seal, even on a
decree that already has yours. Attribute: after it is deployed, it may move.
Herald
5 coins. Tactic: bolster an adjacent friendly unit that has one coin, using a coin
from that unit’s supply. Attribute: after you proclaim, the Herald may maneuver.
