Influence, Fame and Tickets
The Gallerist's Influence track (spending it for money, Fame and Kicked-out actions), Artist Fame and Celebrity status, Masterpieces, tickets, and the one-time intermediate scoring.
Influence
Your disc on the Influence track (0–35, starting at 10) is your clout. You gain Influence from VIPs and Collectors in your Gallery when an icon says so, and from every action at the International Market. Influence above 35 is lost.
You spend it to:
- take a Location action as a Kicked-out action — back to the previous Fame (star) icon;
- promote an Artist — Influence equal to the new level;
- add money or Fame to an action (below).
At the end of the game your position also pays money: see Game End and Scoring.
| Spaces with a Fame (star) icon | 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 |
|---|---|
| Spaces with a money icon | 0, 1, 4, 8, 12, 15, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26–35 |
Using Influence for money
When you pay money — to buy a work, hire Assistants or make an offer — you may move your disc back to the previous space with a money icon to gain 1 money, and keep going: 1 money per money icon reached. The number in the icon only matters at the end.
- You may do this even with money in hand.
- The money must be spent at once; you cannot bank it.
Using Influence for Fame
When an action raises an Artist’s Fame — buying a work, promoting, or a Fame bonus — you may move your disc back to the previous space with a Fame icon to add 1 Fame to that Artist, and keep going: 1 Fame per Fame icon reached.
Fame and Celebrity
An Artist’s Fame sets the price of their works — what you pay to buy and what you get when you sell — so buy early and sell when they are famous. Fame rises when someone buys their work and when they are promoted; it never falls.
When an Artist reaches Fame 19 they become a Celebrity and retire (extra Fame is lost). The player who caused it:
- puts a Celebrity tile on the Artist and gains 5 money;
- every exhibited work by that Artist becomes a Masterpiece (sales value 20).
- A player exhibiting at least one Masterpiece may use the 4th slot of their Gallery, for as long as they keep one.
- No more works can be bought from a Celebrity, except a commissioned one. They can still be promoted.
- Two Celebrities is one of the end conditions.
Tickets
Tickets move Visitors (Executive action). Take them from the matching stack in the box office; a three-colour ticket icon means any colour. You can never take two tickets of the same colour at once.
If the colour you need is gone from the box office, discard a ticket of another colour from the box office and take one of the right colour from the discards instead. Once the box office is empty, take tickets from the discards. An empty box office is an end condition.
Intermediate scoring
The first time a ticket stack of one colour runs out, at the end of that turn (before the next player starts), every player scores, for Visitors in their Gallery:
| Visitor | Influence | Money |
|---|---|---|
| VIP (pink) | 2 | — |
| Investor (brown) | — | 2 |
| Collector (white) | 1 | 1 |
It happens only once per game.
[Scoring] With the Scoring Expansion, three goal tiles replace this scoring.
