Promotional Cards

Nine promotional expedition-card faces from the scanned 2017-era set, with edition compatibility kept explicit.

The 2018 Promo Pack, the 2021 Telegram pack, the 2021 Letter of Recommendation pack, and the 2023 Promo Pack are separate products. Their BGG listings identify card counts and setup where a rules summary is provided. The 2023 Ravensburger base rules also include Binoculars. The nine pictured card types below are from a public scanned component set; compatible artwork and physical card sizes vary by edition.

Promo Pack (2018)

The 2018 pack contains three copies each of Powerful Paddle, Binoculars, and Brute. The BGG listing describes their effects but does not state how to add these cards to the market supply; follow the card insert if available. The three faces are listed in Cards & Components. This is not the 2023 Promo Pack or the separate Telegram pack.

Telegram

The 2021 Telegram pack contains three copies each of Missionary, Elevation Map, and Telegram. Add those three card piles above the market board. Telegram (cost 3) takes one non-Telegram card from the market board into your hand, then is removed from the game. Its face is pictured in Cards & Components. The 2023 Promo Pack includes Missionary and Elevation Map but does not list Telegram.

Letter of Recommendation Pack

The 2021 Letter of Recommendation pack contains three Botanists, three Trail Charts, and four Letters of Recommendation. Add Botanist and Trail Chart as extra piles above the market board; add one Letter to each player’s starting deck. Once per game, use it to buy from above the market board instead of from the board, then remove it from the game. The card has no separate market price; pay according to the card being bought. The 2023 Promo Pack contains the same three card types and counts.

Binoculars

Binoculars (cost 3): copy the effect of one card on the market board. The 2023 Ravensburger rules include this card; its use with the 2017 English market is not confirmed by the available source set.

Other pictured promotional cards

Powerful Paddle (cost 2) provides blue power 6 for one use.

Brute (cost 3) moves to an adjacent space showing at least three symbols, whether occupied or empty.

Trail Chart (cost 3) allows up to four moves between adjacent one-symbol spaces.

Botanist (cost 4) allows up to two moves between adjacent green jungle spaces.

Elevation Map (cost 3) moves to one adjacent mountain space, occupied or empty.

Missionary (cost 2) allows up to two moves between adjacent yellow village spaces.

Promo Pack (2023)

This spielbox issue 1/2023 pack contains three Botanists, three Elevation Maps, three Missionaries, three Trail Charts, and four Letters of Recommendation. Set up the four movement-card types as extra piles above the market board and add one Letter to each player’s starting deck. These cards are language-independent; the rules are supplied in English, German, Spanish, Italian and French. The card effects are listed in Cards & Components. Its exact card-size compatibility with the 2017 edition remains unverified.

Binoculars in the 2023 base rules

The 2023 Ravensburger rules include Binoculars as a card in that edition. The 2018 Promo Pack also contains three copies. Check your edition’s insert for compatible artwork and size before mixing them.
