Dangers & Muisca
Optional dangerous terrain features and a separate Muisca card market.

Choose modules
Dangers & Muisca contains two independently usable modules. Choose any combination of the Dangers features when building the route; Muisca can be used alone or together with them. Both can be combined with Heroes & Hexes. The BGG expansion page and English rules file identify this 2022 rules set.
Dangers: dangerous spaces
Any space showing a skull is dangerous: you may enter it only if you continue moving during the same card movement. You cannot end a card movement or your turn there. The dangerous terrain strip adds these spaces to the route.
Mountains
Place mountain overlays on chosen route spaces. A mountain is a dangerous pass: enter only if you continue moving in the same card movement. Empty mountains remain impassable under the base rules unless another effect explicitly permits entry.
Rivers, lakes and vortex
Place water features along route edges to make coastlines, or overlay selected spaces. When a card movement ends on a space with a white flow arrow, immediately move to the adjacent space the arrow points to if it is not a mountain and is not occupied. If that destination has an arrow, it does not chain: the forced move applies only to the arrow space where the card movement stopped. You may not voluntarily stop on a dangerous destination.
Swamps
Overlay swamp spaces or add the swamp strip. To enter a swamp, play one card whose power exactly equals the number of crocodiles shown; its symbol colour does not matter. There is no leftover power.
Shrines and artifacts
Put the matching coloured artifact beside each shrine. After a card movement ends on a shrine, you may remove one card of its colour from your hand to gain that colour’s artifact. A white joker counts as green, blue or yellow, but not purple. Each player may take each of the four artifacts only once. You must own all four to enter the El Dorado gate and win.
Muisca cards
Shuffle the eight Muisca cards and place two face up beside the market board. They count as two additional market offers, making eight displayed cards. When a Muisca card is bought, put it face up in the buyer’s discard pile and reveal a replacement while the deck lasts. A Muisca card without a coin icon is worth half a coin.
When played, use a Muisca card immediately as normal, or lay it face up on your expedition board between draw and discard piles to save its action for a later turn. You may have at most two stored Muisca cards. The card remains there after use; it is not discarded from the display. All eight card faces and their printed values appear in Cards & Components.
[D&M] A stored Muisca card can be used as if played from your hand, including to pay for removing a card at a base camp; after use, return it to the box. BGG Rules discussion
Muisca with caves
Add the six Muisca cave tokens to the base cave supply. Three let you use one Muisca card displayed on an opponent’s expedition board as if it were yours; three let you use one of your own displayed Muisca cards. The displayed card remains in place.
