Promo: New Excommunications
The New Excommunications promo for Lorenzo il Magnifico: three Excommunication tiles, one per period, that punish players who lean on their Leaders.
Short tag: [Excomm]
What it adds
Three Excommunication tiles, one for each period. Shuffle each into the tiles of its period before you draw the three for the game (setup step 3). They work like the base tiles: anyone excommunicated in that period puts a cube on the tile and suffers it from then on (Vatican Report).
All three hit Leaders, so use them only in the full game.
The tiles
| Tile | Penalty |
|---|---|
![]() | Period I — from now on, every Leader you play costs an extra 1 |
![]() | Period II — at once, remove from the game one Leader you have already played. |
![]() | Period III — at the end of the game, lose 5 |
Timing
- The period I cost applies to every Leader you play after the excommunication, on top of its requirements.
- The period II tile acts once, as soon as you are excommunicated.
- The period III tile is scored with the final scoring.
Playing with them
- They make Faith matter more for Leader-heavy strategies: a Faith track you ignore now costs Leaders, not only goods.
- They mix with the Houses of Renaissance tiles: each period can then draw from 7 base, 1 expansion and 1 promo tile.
