End of Game and Special Cases
Kutná Hora final scoring — city dots, mine rows, income, reputation and extras — the tie-break, and the rulebook's special cases, limits and rules reminders.
Game end
The game ends after the last round’s end-of-round steps: round 5 with 4 players, round 6 with 2 or 3. Points scored during play stay; now add final scoring.
Final scoring
Score in this order:
City dots
Go through the town building by building. The owner of each building scores
1 point for each of its dots that matches a dot on a building beside it or on the board’s edge
beside it. Tip each building over once counted so none is missed. Public buildings have no owner
and score nobody — but their dots still match yours.
Mines
Take each row of mines in turn. Add up all the stars in the row, rock tiles included: that total sets the
row’s value, printed above the mines. Then rank the players by their own stars in that row.
| Stars in the row | 1st | 2nd | 3rd |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–5 | 2 | 1 | 0 |
| 6–9 | 3 | 2 | 1 |
| 10 or more | 5 | 3 | 2 |
- A player with no stars in the row scores nothing there, even with a mine in it.
- Tied players all take the full value of their place; the places they fill are used up.
These row values come from the rulebook’s picture of the 3–4 player board; check the 2-player side of your board.
Income
Work out your income at the final prices — what an Income action would pay now —
divide by 10 and round down.
Reputation
Score the points shown above your marker’s space on the reputation track:
from −4 at the bottom to +13 at the top (full table on Gameplay).
Extras
1 point each for:
- every building tile still in a slot above your board;
- every plot marker of yours still in town;
- every pelican token you never used (purple side up).
Winning
Most points wins. Tie: most groschen left. Still tied: share the victory.
Special cases
Running out of pieces
Your plot markers, houses and miners are limited. If an action needs one you no longer have, the whole action does nothing. Patrician tokens are limited to 3 per colour: ignore the part of an effect that needs a missing one. Pelican tokens and groschen are unlimited — use substitutes.
Ignoring effects
Any action may be taken with no effect: play the card and announce it.
- You may ignore the free public-building tile of a house and still score its points.
- On a St. Barbara tile you may skip the middle effect, even when it is not an action (tile 6: take the 2 points, skip the patrician). Tile 3: you must lose the reputation but may keep your house.
Mining regulations
- Paying the permit to add only 1 miner to your pool is allowed (full price).
- After seeing the mine tiles you drew, you may discard them all and build nothing.
- A mining technology tile you would place as a mine may be removed from the game instead.
Limits
- Taxes never go above 25.
- A population or ore deck on its last card ignores further advances.
Rules reminders
- Refill the miner pool only as the first step of a Mine action.
- An empty mine stack: shuffle the whole discard pile into a new stack.
- A mine neither opens nor prices the square above it.
- Mining technology rises only when someone builds a Miners’ guild building that shows it.
- You can never take a guild building tile of a guild you do not belong to.
- The house reward that gives a free building tile works only for public buildings.
