End of Round
What happens when a Kutná Hora round ends: events, taxes or reputation loss, the plot tax, red-patrician buildings, patrician scoring and setting up the next round.
Order of the round end
The round ends when every player has taken their third turn. Then, in this order:
- Events that advance a deck (when events are in play).
- Taxes: each player pays or loses reputation.
- Patrician scoring in the last 3 rounds.
- Red-patrician buildings arrive when the rounds track says so.
- Next round: advance the rounds counter, reveal the next event, pass the starting player marker left, take your cards back.
Events at the end of the round
Each event card says when it applies; most apply at the end of the round. An event that advances the
population or
ore deck does so now, before taxes and patrician
scoring. Full rules: Event cards.
Taxes
The tax counter sits on the tax track along the rounds track; it climbs during play through
tile effects, St. Barbara flips and events (never above 25). Each round space shows the
choice:
- Pay the current tax in groschen (plus your plot tax), or
- Lose the reputation printed for this round, and pay nothing.
You may take the reputation loss even if you could pay. Without enough money, you must take it.
| Rounds track side | Round 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Five rounds (4 players) | −1 | −1 | −2 | −2 | −3 | — |
| Six rounds (2–3 players) | −1 | −1 | −1 | −2 | −2 | −3 |
Plot tax
Plot markers still in the town at tax time raise your tax:
| Your plot markers in town | Extra tax |
|---|---|
| 0 or 1 | 0 |
| 2 | 3 groschen |
| 3 | 8 groschen (3 + 5) |
If you choose not to pay taxes, you do not pay the plot tax either.
Red-patrician buildings
The 3 red-patrician public buildings wait on the rounds track. They arrive at the end of round 2 with 4 players, round 3 with 2 or 3. Shuffle them and put one at the end of each row of the town hall board, as three separate tiles, not a stack. From then on they slide left like any other stack, and the 3-permit column comes into use.
Patrician scoring
At the end of each of the last 3 rounds, after taxes, every patrician on the town council scores for all players. Multiply each rule by the number of patricians of that colour on the council.

Next round

tax, raise the tax now. - The starting player marker passes one seat left.
- Everyone takes back all 6 action cards.
