Payday, Marketing and Cleanup
Firing and salaries, salary discounts, how each campaign type adds demand, and the end-of-round cleanup.
Payday
Everyone does this at the same time.
- Fire any employees you like, in your structure or on the beach. They go back to the supply. Busy marketeers can’t be fired voluntarily.
- Pay $5 to the bank for every employee with the salary symbol
: working, on the
beach or busy running a campaign. Entry-level employees and the CEO have no salary.
Salary discounts are mandatory and come off the total first:
- −$5 for each unused Recruiting Manager or HR Director action;
- −$15 with the First to Train an Employee milestone.
The total can’t go below $0. If you can’t pay, fire salaried employees until you can — with $0, all of them. Only if nobody else is left must you fire a busy marketeer; their campaign keeps running.
If you actually pay $20 or more after discounts, claim First to Pay $20 or More in Salaries. In the last round of the game there is no Payday.
Marketing
No decisions: campaigns run one at a time, lowest number first. For each campaign:
- Put 1 demand counter of its item on each house it reaches. A house holds at most 3 demand counters, 5 with a garden; a full house gets nothing and existing counters are never replaced.
- Remove 1 duration counter from the campaign, even if it added nothing (not from an eternal campaign).
- If its last counter is gone, the campaign ends: it goes back to the supply, its marketeer goes on your beach and the busy token comes off.
Low-numbered campaigns go first, so they are more likely to find room on a house.
Campaign reach
A garden counts as part of its house: the house and garden are one 6-square house.
| Campaign | Reaches |
|---|---|
Billboard | Every house orthogonally next to it. Bigger billboards touch more houses. |
Mailbox | Every house you can trace a line to from the mailbox without crossing a road, a bridge or the map edge. Two road corners that touch block the line. Its size doesn’t matter. |
Airplane | Every house with any part in the 1, 3 or 5 rows or columns it flies over. Nothing blocks it. |
Radio | Every house with any part on its own map tile or the 8 tiles around it. |
With the First Radio Campaign milestone, your radios add 2 counters to each house instead of 1.
Cleanup
- Throw away every unsold item in your stock. With the First to Throw Away Food or Drink milestone, keep up to 10 in your freezer instead.
- Take back all employees from your structure and the beach into your hand. Busy marketeers stay out.
- Remove all Coming Soon and drive-in signs: every restaurant is now open, without a drive-in.
- Cross out milestones: put a ✗
on every milestone someone else claimed this round. - Demand on houses and counters on campaigns stay. Start the next round.
Throwing away at least one item claims First to Throw Away Food or Drink; the freezer works from the next Cleanup.
