Turn Order, End of Round and Scoring
Florenza's Phase 7 elections — Captain of the People, Bishop and Cardinal — the new turn order and its special cases, Phase 8 clean-up, and the final scoring after round 7.
Phase 7 Turn order
The order for next round is set in three steps, in this order:
- Captain of the People — plays first;
- Bishop — plays second (first if there is no Captain);
- the other players, by their Prestige.
Move the Turn Order markers to match.
Captain of the People
The player whose Captain marker is highest on the Prestige Track becomes Captain of the People for next round. A tie means no Captain. The new Captain:
- takes the Captain card (the First Player card’s Captain side);
- takes
Prestige Point tokens worth their position on the track — kept face down,
everyone may see how many you have but not their values; - moves their Captain marker back to 0;
- puts their Turn Order marker at the top, pushing the others down without changing their order.
Nobody else moves on the Prestige Track. That is how points are banked: the lead keeps passing from player to player, and each Captain cashes in.
Bishop
Then check the Church Influence Track. A single player with at least 3
and more than
everyone else becomes Bishop; a tie for the most, or nobody at 3, means no Bishop. The new Bishop:
- takes the Bishop card;
- scores the
Prestige printed on their Bishop marker’s space (move the Captain marker); - moves their Bishop marker back to the start of the track;
- puts their Turn Order marker second from the top — or at the top if there is no Captain.
Cardinal
Elected Bishop again while already Bishop? You also become Cardinal: no powers, but at once as
many
Prestige Points as there are players in the game.
The other players
Everyone without an office is placed by their Captain marker: higher Prestige plays earlier. Tied players reverse their order.
Special cases
No Captain (round 1, or a Prestige tie) or no Bishop (round 1, a tie, or nobody at 3) happens often:
| Offices | Order next round |
|---|---|
| Captain, no Bishop | Captain first, the rest by Captain markers |
| Bishop, no Captain | Bishop first, the rest by Captain markers |
| Neither | Everyone by Captain markers |
| Both held by one player | That player first with both cards and both powers in Phases 2 and 3; the rest by Captain markers |
Phase 8 End of the round
In order:
- Move the
round marker on one space. If it was on the last space, the game is
over: go to scoring. - An Artist or Preacher detained by the Captain goes back on his card.
- Kinsmen on Predicatore spaces and on the Bishop card go back to their families’ pools.
- Preacher tiles on Predicatore spaces go back on their cards.
- Characters under Life in Florenza card I leave the game, card and tile.
- Every other character card moves down one space along the row (VI → V, … II → I).
- For each character that left, draw a tile from the bag, find its card and put it under the Life in Florenza card matching its rounds, New Artist side up.
- Turn the Muse back to Available.
[Solo] Ghosts add four steps — see Solitaire.
End of the game
The game ends after round 7.
Final scoring
Start from where your Captain marker stands and move it:
| Source | Victory Points |
|---|---|
| Your Bishop marker’s space on the Church Influence Track | + the Prestige printed there |
| Fiorini, counting each Resource as 100 | +1 per 200 |
| Captain of the People at the end | +3 |
| Bishop at the end | +3 |
| Each empty Workshop space in your District | −1 |
| Each uncompleted Artwork in your District | −1 |
| No Artwork at all in your Palazzo | −4 more |
| No Artwork at all in your Chiesa | −4 more |
| Your Prestige Point tokens | + their total |
Tie-breaker
Most Victory Points wins. Tied: most Resources, then most Fiorini; still tied, a shared victory.
