Modules and Variants

Publisher optional rules and separately identified community modules.

Official: Flying Start and Redline

Flying Start: when starting a turn at Gear 0, declare this before rolling. Use the Gear 2 die to move one space, skipping Gear 1. If it shows a hazard, the turn still ends at Gear 2 without a crash. It is allowed from the starting line or when returning from a crash. You may secure the Gear 2 die with Focus.

Do not add a Flying Start after a Flat Out crash. If you declared one before the roll, the publisher’s forum clarification says to keep it when rearranging after a Loss of Control; the rulebook’s Gear 2 hazard exception still ends at Gear 2 without damage or rearrangement. See the FAQ.

Redline: while already in top gear, use Brake dice as Coast dice to continue moving. Count them toward dashboard limits. A die used this way cannot also brake, and redline dice do not earn Focus in a Flat Out move.

Official: starting weather and tires

Drivers may agree on dry or wet starting weather and choose tires accordingly. To remove random weather changes, discard any Weather Change token drawn from the Damage bag and draw a replacement.

Meteo GT fan-made

The fan-made Météo GT weather module replaces normal weather changes with weather cards and a weather die. Choose a card and normal or fast mode, roll or place the weather die on the indicated starting node, and use that node for the starting condition. The complete card list and transition table remain to be transcribed.

Dynamic Weather

The community Dynamic Weather v2.4 variant introduces changing forecasts and weather states. It includes starting conditions, weather rolls and forecasts for qualifying/race sessions. Setup and tables are not transcribed here; consult the source before play.

Endurance

Clayton Zylstra’s fan-made Endurance rules create a long race with fuel, tire wear, damage, fatigue and a time board. Setup: choose GT-E or Prototype dashboards, place the time board and markers, then set the chosen race duration and components from the rules. The full duration schedule, fuel/damage timing and tire effects are to be added.

Rallyfun: GT

Guillaume Luton’s Rallyfun: GT is an explicitly unofficial alternative ruleset. It gives each driver Focus tokens based on qualifying or starting position, then changes the official blocking, interaction and race-flow rules. Setup: use its own starting Focus allotment, then read its five required rules before adding optional thematic rules 6–9. The exact replacement text remains a gap; do not mix it into a standard race without consulting the source.

Other files checked

Other files checked include an Italian Flatout 2 newsletter (not a Rallyman: GT rules expansion), a track setup key, a Rally Time Tracker, and two community AI dashboard aids.
