Solo Play
The Schmidt publisher rules do not include an official solo opponent.
No official solo mode
The publisher’s base game, The Herb Witches and The Alchemists rulebooks do not provide a one-player setup or opponent. The standard game is for 2–4; The Herb Witches adds a fifth player.
Rival Quack (fan-made)
Marek Tupy’s unofficial The Rival Quack of Quedlinburg uses a two-player setup. The rival has no bag or flask. Remove the Fortune Teller cards Schadenfreude and Less is More. Shuffle nine double-sided rival cards, choose difficulty I–III, then reveal one card each round to set the rival’s rat stone, scoring space, black-chip count and droplet progression. The rival does not benefit from Fortune Teller effects or roll the Bonus Die. It scores from its book-driven position, gains rubies as indicated, and advances its droplet when the card directs. In round 9, it scores droplet progress and spends rubies for points instead of movement. Use the BGG file for the precise card chart and difficulty values; the files are not reproduced here.
