The Quacks of Quedlinburg
The annual bazaar has begun. Every player is a quack doctor trying to brew a potion that scores well and earns enough coins to buy better ingredients. Each round you draw blind from your own bag and choose whether to risk one more chip. Explosions are possible, but the best potion is rarely made by playing too cautiously.
Use the setup guide and teach script before your first game.
The pot and the bag
Set a droplet on 0 and keep the flask full. Your starting bag contains seven white cherry bombs (four 1s, two 2s, one 3), one orange pumpkin 1, and one green 1. Each chip you draw is placed ahead by its printed value. Empty spaces stay empty.
Brew, then stop
Draw one chip at a time without looking in your bag. After each placement you may stop or draw again. Only the total value of your white chips is checked against 7. If it rises above 7, the last chip stays in the pot and you stop immediately. See brewing.
Score and shop
The last space reached controls your score and purchase money. Exploded pots choose between points and shopping money, while still resolving other eligible rewards. Spend coins on up to two different colors of ingredient chips, then return everything drawn and bought to your bag. Scoring explains the phase order.
Nine market days
Play nine rounds. New ingredient books open on rounds 2 and 3; everyone adds a white 1 on round 6. Convert rubies into a deeper starting position or a refilled flask between rounds. After round 9, the player furthest along the score track wins. See the full turn and scoring.
