Meteo

Weather tokens alter movement and drafting along the route.

Short tag: [Meteo]

What it adds

Meteo adds 13 weather tokens: four with specific weather and nine marked Clear, four matching weather markers, and new rules for crosswind, tailwind, headwind and wet-road crashes. It uses the same three race phases as the base game.

Setup changes

After building the route and before placing riders, shuffle the 13 tokens. Reveal one token on each straight track tile except the Start and Finish, seven tokens in total. Replace every non-Clear token with its matching weather marker on that straight; return all tokens to the box. Each marker affects all six spaces of its straight tile. If a route has a different number of eligible straights, the rule sheet’s fixed seven-token setup cannot be followed as printed; leave that case unresolved until the publisher clarifies it.

Weather effects

WeatherRule
CrosswindA rider on the marked straight cannot give or receive slipstreaming.
TailwindA rider starting its turn there draws five Energy cards instead of four.
HeadwindA rider starting its turn there draws three Energy cards instead of four.
WetIf a rider stops there after losing at least one movement to blocking, it crashes.
ClearNo weather change; use the normal terrain rules.

Crashes

Lay a crashed rider on its side in its lane. A pack cannot start or continue a slipstream through a square containing a crashed rider. If both lanes of a square are occupied by crashed riders, that square is blocked. A rider forced to stop in an earlier wet square also crashes.

On the next round, stand the rider up and subtract 2 from the card’s movement after applying a descent or supply-zone bonus. A resulting value of 0 means the rider stays put; use the right lane if possible. The ascent cap remains 5, so a crash rider needs a card value of at least 7 to move five spaces on an ascent.

End and scoring

Meteo adds no race points. Crashes affect movement and drafting; finish order follows the base game or the Grand Tour timing procedure.

The official rule sheet used for this summary is available in Italian from the publisher. The printed source labels and numbers have been read, but card/token faces still need pictures in Cards & Components.
