Rewards and Final Scoring

The Reward phase — Correspondence majorities, the Beagle Goal and lagging penalties — and final scoring: the Theory of Evolution track, personal board, Coins and tie-breaks.

Reward phase

Both rewards are taken in current turn order. You may achieve Objectives and Crew cards during this phase too.

Correspondence majorities

Score the three Envelopes from top to bottom:

Beagle Goal

Score the Beagle Goal tile directly below the HMS Beagle. Each player gains its points once per time they meet its condition:

GoalPoints
Each Regular Wax Seal of the shown colour (purple does not count)4
Each Research token of the shown specimen type6
Each of your personal Lens tokens on the board5
Each empty Stamp stack8
Each of your Tents on a campsite4
Each achieved Objective3

Then flip the tile face down. All twelve tiles are pictured on Cards & Components.

Lagging penalties

Lagging penalty If your Ship is behind the HMS Beagle, add up the red penalty values printed on the Ocean track between your Ship and the Beagle and subtract them from that Beagle Goal’s points — never below zero for the tile. The golden Objective space caps each penalty at 2.

The green Ship is two thresholds behind the Beagle

Final scoring

After round 5 skip Cleanup. Add to your score:

Theory of Evolution track scoring

  1. Museum modifier (the same for everyone): 2 + the number of Museum rows with all four tiles.
  2. Count the books your Evolution marker reached or passed; add 1 if you achieved the One extra Book multiplier book-multiplier Objective.
  3. Score modifier × books.

Personal board

Personal board endgame points, A to F

Coins and Temporary Knowledge

1 point per full set of 5 Coins, 1 point per Temporary Knowledge token.

[Fireland] Then subtract the Time track penalty and add or subtract your Adventure token points (Fireland scoring).

Tie-breaks

Most points wins. Tied: the player furthest along the Theory of Evolution track; still tied, most leftover Coins; still tied, a shared victory.

Victory points over 50

When you pass 50, put your spare cube on the 50 space in the top-right corner of the board, and move it on each time you pass 0 again; your marker goes round the track from 0.
