Pilgrim and Monasteries
How the pilgrim moves on Coimbra's map and what visiting a monastery gives you.
Moving your pilgrim
A reward with the pilgrim icon lets you move up to that many steps. One step takes your pilgrim along a road to the very next location.
- Your first step ever leaves your starting corner along its one-way road to one of the two stopovers it reaches. You can never travel back towards Coimbra on those roads.
- You may move fewer steps or none, and change direction at any time — even back to where you came from.
- Pilgrims never block each other. All roads and stopovers work alike; their colours only show where they lead.
- Stopovers: nothing happens; keep moving if you have steps left.
Monasteries
Entering a monastery where you have no disk yet: put one of your disks above it (on top of any others). That gives its bonus:
Immediate bonus — use it now or lose it.- No mark — a lasting bonus (wild diplomas, or points each time something happens later).
Then carry on with any steps left: one move can reach several monasteries. You may walk through a monastery that already has your disk, but its bonus does not repeat; each player has at most one disk per monastery.
The map has 8 monasteries of stack I (blue), 4 of stack II (brown) and 2 of stack III (ruby). All 24 faces are in Cards & Components.
