Extraction and Sales
Collect resources, manage storage and choose a local or global sale.
Extraction
At the start of your turn, collect resources from one or more of your
Active Mines. Without an
Office, choose one mine. A Local
Office lets you extract from two mines on its continent; an upgraded Global
Office lets you choose three from either continent. The output printed on each
Territory sets the amount you collect. You may choose any mix of the four resource types up to that total.
Store each resource on the
Territory where it was mined. Total storage is limited by your Character Guide and a
Warehouse; there is no per-
Territory storage limit. If a mine produces more than the remaining space, the excess is a surplus. Sell surplus locally at half its nominal value; this is handled immediately and uses your sale for that turn. The designer clarified that excess resources gained outside your own turn are also sold immediately at half value, without using a future sale (BGG ruling).
Global sale
In the Development phase, you may export your entire stock as one action. Every mine must be in a region with
Road access to sell; Europe already has roads, while you must build
Roads in African regions that lack them. Roll the die: a 64 doubles the sale income; a 2 halves it, rounded up to the next even amount under the first-print convention. Your own
Vessel doubles income from the sale, regardless of where the stock originated. An upgraded
Vessel also adds its fixed cargo-leasing income. You cannot build and make a Global Sale in the same Development phase. The Version 12 rulebook allows a 64 roll to double income again after a
Vessel, but the designer later said the final rulebook would cap that combined bonus at 2×; the final wording remains unverified.
Local sale
Instead, sell your stock to the local market for half value. Resolve each region separately: stock without a
Road cannot be sold, while eligible regions can sell. A competitor with a
Warehouse in that region has first chance to buy at half value; if they decline or cannot pay, the bank buys it. A local sale needs no die roll and cannot be disrupted by Action cards. It can share the turn with a Development action. Your own
Vessel does not improve a Local Sale.
If a competitor buyer has limited free storage, the designer’s BGG reply says they can accept stock up to their capacity; the designer also noted that this case needed clarification in the next rulebook (BGG ruling).
Resources
The first-print edition has four resource types: zinc (2 million), copper (4 million), nickel (8 million) and gold (16 million). The printed values are estimates; the market value is realized when you sell.
Resource tokens are also currency for fees and certain effects.
Hashtag Coins are the game’s money and pay costs; they are not interchangeable with resource tokens unless a rule explicitly says so.
