Targets and Rewards
Claim public objectives, incentives and card rewards.
Strategic Targets
The Target Grid shows public Bronze, Silver and Gold objectives. At the end of your turn, claim one face-up Target if you meet its condition. You may have met the condition earlier: the designer says traceable achievements such as owning two structures continue to qualify. A condition that cannot be traced, such as currently holding a specific amount of cash, must be true when you claim it. This ruling applies to the first-print card wording (BGG clarification).
Government Incentives
Incentives are limited public rewards for activating European Mines. At the end of your turn, you may claim one qualifying Incentive instead of a
Strategic Target. Never take both in one Reward phase. Once the available Incentives are gone, later European mines do not receive one.
Exchange a card for its reward
Target and Incentive cards carry
Supremacy Points. You may discard one to take its printed reward, but those points no longer count in your final score. A reward that accompanies another phase’s action can be used there without consuming the Reward phase. In Standard mode, the appropriate card reward is the ordinary way to upgrade an asset. Fair Play instead allows upgrades at their regular cost.
Phone Call
When chosen in the Strategy phase, the
Phone Call is temporary and returns to the Market unused at turn end. It can substitute a missing
Development card or a qualifying upgrade Target, but the investment costs double. It may also be spent during the Reward phase to remove a Target from the Grid and reveal its replacement. As a last resort, it can provide a loan for the exact amount needed; repay twice that amount as soon as you have enough money. The designer clarified that it does not copy a Target’s reward (BGG ruling).
