Shared table

Shuffle all 49 numbered cards. Keep reference aids separate from this draw deck.
Place the starting Red card in the middle as the Canvas. Its top card sets the shared rule.
Find the highest face-up Palette card, comparing number then color. The player to that person’s left starts, then turns go clockwise.

Each player

Deal seven cards face down to each player as a private hand.
Deal one more card face up in front of each player to start their Palette. Do not resolve an Action for this setup card.
Give players a color reference and leave the turn guide visible.

Choose modules

Begin with Basic Red7 for one round. Agree before dealing whether to use Advanced scoring and drawing, and whether to add the separate Action rules.
