Gameplay
Turns, comparisons and all seven winning rules.
A legal turn
Play one card from hand to your Palette, discard one hand card to the Canvas, or do both in that order. The new Canvas color replaces the previous rule. A Canvas discard must leave you winning; it is not an extra Palette card. You can concede instead of playing. If your hand is empty at the start of your turn, you are eliminated.
After your turn, compare only the remaining players’ Palettes. Being behind during someone else’s turn does not eliminate you; your own turn is the deadline. When eliminated, turn both your hand and Palette face down and take no more turns that round. Continue clockwise until one player remains.
[Advanced] A qualifying Canvas discard can draw a card. [Actions] Odd numbers trigger mandatory actions when played to a Palette.
The seven rules
| Rule | What counts |
|---|---|
| Red | Your single highest card. Extra cards with that number add nothing. |
| Orange | Your largest group sharing one number. A pair of 2s beats a lone 7. Do not combine different-number groups. |
| Yellow | Your largest group sharing one color. Count cards, not their numerical sum. |
| Green | All your 2s, 4s and 6s. With no even card, you cannot win. |
| Blue | One card per different color. Repeated cards of the same color add no further colors. |
| Indigo | Your longest consecutive run, such as 3–4–5. Duplicate numbers do not extend it; one card can be a run of length one. |
| Violet | All your 1s, 2s and 3s. A 4 does not qualify; with none below 4 you cannot win. |
Breaking ties
Compare the number of qualifying cards first. If tied, compare the highest card within each tied set: higher number wins, then color. Color strength descends Red → Orange → Yellow → Green → Blue → Indigo → Violet. Never use a nonqualifying high card to break a tie.
For Green, two even cards beat one even card even if that lone even card is a 6. With one 4 each, Orange 4 beats Blue 4. Your unrelated Red 7 has no effect on that Green comparison.
The starting player
The initial Canvas is Red. After dealing each starting Palette, the player immediately left of the highest card starts. Play continues clockwise; the player initially ahead does not get a free pass.
