Turns and Actions
Prague Unseen's turn: one of five actions — Place a Worker, Enter a Building, Build a Building, Build a Bridge or Bench — plus Resources, Rumors, Garnets, Worker types and Mug cards.
Gameplay
The game lasts 3 Eras. In each Era players take turns clockwise from the first player, one
action per turn, until everyone has taken the
Bench action (End of an Era).
On your turn choose one of:
- Place a Worker — on a Neighborhood Square: Witch, reward, minigame.
- Enter a Building — move a placed Worker onto a Building card and use it.
- Build a Building — pay a Building Price token and add a card to the city.
- Build a Bridge — spend 2 Guild symbols to place a Bridge tile.
- Bench — pass for the rest of the Era.
Any time during your turn you may also play Mug cards; they are not your action.
Resources
- Basic Resources:
Beer,
Cogs,
Fish and
Books,
each tied to a Neighborhood. Keep them on your player board.
Rumor is recorded on the track at the bottom of your player board. You can hold
at most 6; any extra is lost.
Garnet is the rare one: it can be spent as any basic Resource or as a
Rumor.
Paying cost conversions
Whenever you pay a cost you may also:
- pay 3
Rumors as 1 basic Resource of your choice, and/or - discard 2 identical basic Resources as 1
Garnet.
What you convert must be spent on that cost at once — you cannot convert and keep it.
Workers
Each player has four Workers: Robot, Vodnik, Horned and Golem. Each one’s home is the Neighborhood of the same name. Any Worker may go to any Neighborhood, but an action space showing a specific Worker can only be used by that type; a space with the universal Worker symbol takes any.
Start of turn Worker conversion
Before your action you may pay 3
Rumors to treat the Worker you use this turn as any
type. The figure stays the same; the change lasts for this turn only.
Free action: Mug cards
At any time during your turn you may play any number of
Mug cards. Each is discarded
after use. All six effects are in Cards & Components.
Place a Worker
Put a Worker from your player board on any Neighborhood Square that does not already hold one of your Workers, then, in order:
- The Witch. If she is in this Neighborhood, you must move her to the Witch space of a different Neighborhood and take that space’s reward (one of the two if it shows two options).
- Reward. A home Worker (matching the Neighborhood) gains 3
Rumors; any other
Worker gains 1 basic Resource of the Neighborhood. - Minigame. Resolve this Neighborhood’s minigame with the Worker type you placed.
Enter a Building
Move one of your Workers from a Neighborhood Square onto an empty Building card (no Worker on it) and resolve the card. The card must be:
- in the Worker’s Neighborhood, or in a Neighborhood joined to it by a complete Bridge (two Bridge tiles side by side), and
- one the Worker can use: it shows the Worker’s type, or ”?” for any type.
The Worker stays on the card for the rest of the Era, so nobody else can use that card this Era.
Build a Building
No Worker is needed. In order:
- Pay the cost on one of the Neighborhood’s top Building Price tokens.
- Take a card from the common Building offer and put it under that token’s space — on the
empty space or over the card already there. Refill the offer from the deck at once.
- If the covered card had a Worker on it, lay that Worker on its side next to the Square of that Neighborhood. It still counts as a visit for Popularity.
- Take the Building Price token,
VP side up, and keep it by your board: it scores at the end. - Gain 1
Influence in that Neighborhood (Influence).
The Building Price tokens are stacked level I on top, then II, then III, so each space gets more expensive as it is rebuilt. The offer shows Buildings of the current Era’s level.
Build a Bridge
- Choose a visible (top) Bridge tile on your player board and pay its cost: remove the 2 Guild markers it shows from your board’s Guilds.
- Place it on any empty Bridge space on the game board. If none is left, put it beside your player board instead and skip step 3.
- Gain 1
Influence in the Neighborhood where you built it.
Two Bridge tiles built next to each other form a complete Bridge, which lets Workers enter Buildings across it. Every two Bridge tiles you build also give you a Milestone.
Bench action
When you can’t take another action you must
Bench; you may also
Bench earlier and give up your
remaining actions. Then:
- Put your last Worker on the
Bench tile. The first player to
Bench this Era takes the top space
and the First Player token. - Gain the bonus shown on the
Bench tile (not in the third Era). - Gain 1
Rumor for each of your Workers still on a Neighborhood Square.
You take no more turns this Era. When everyone has Benched, the Era ends.
Two players
The board’s 1–2-player side is used, each Neighborhood has 2 Building Price tokens per level, and a
virtual player owns a Gargoyle on each
Influence track (on spaces 3, 2, 2 and 1 from top to
bottom). It never scores, but it blocks first and second place in Influence scoring.
