Workshops
The two asymmetric Workshops of Maestro: da Vinci's Resource patterns and Inventions, Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel tiles, Busts and Statues, and their components.
Every turn you take one Workshop Action, before or after your Main Action. The two Workshops work differently.
The da Vinci Workshop

Placing Resources
Each turn you must place all your available Resources on the empty spaces of your Workshop board — one Resource or Invention marker per space. Once placed, a Resource stays put until a Blueprint spends it.
Building an Invention
If Resources on the board match the pattern on a Blueprint tile — above a Blueprint card that still has Invention markers — you may spend them:
- the pattern may be rotated and mirrored;
- a multicoloured space on the tile takes a Resource of any colour;
- a Resource covered by an Upgrade marker is already fulfilled.
Remove the spent Resources, take the topmost Invention marker from that Blueprint card and put it on one of the spaces you just emptied. You gain the Invention’s ongoing effect (described in the da Vinci Glossary). At the end of the game you score the VP printed beside each emptied Invention space on the Blueprint cards.
The Michelangelo Workshop

Sistine Chapel tiles
Choose any face-up Sistine Chapel tile. Its cost is the Resource at the foot of its column and the one at the start of its row (a multicoloured cost takes any colour). Then pick one:
| Pay | Effect | The tile |
|---|---|---|
| 2 Resources — one per cost | Resolve its effect | Remove it |
| 1 Resource — either cost | Resolve its effect | Flip it |
| Nothing | No effect | Flip it |
A row or column covered by a Workshop Upgrade tile costs nothing for that Resource. At the end of the game Michelangelo scores 2 VP per removed tile and 2 VP per empty row. Tile effects are in the Michelangelo Glossary.
Busts and Statues
Michelangelo uses
Statues and his Assistant
Busts — the Character tiles
show which. On a turn the active Character only moves and places its own type; for majorities, all
of the Workshop’s Artworks count. Michelangelo’s other Resource use is the
+1 Effort bonus on an Action of the same colour.
