The Places
The 16 Places of Istanbul's bazaar and their actions: Wainwright, Warehouses, Post Office, Caravansary, Fountain, Black Market, Tea House, Markets, Police Station, Sultan's Palace, Mosques and Gemstone Dealer.
Each Place shows its number (top left), its name, its action and sometimes a Place symbol (top right) that Bonus cards and Mosque tiles refer to. The expansions’ Places are on the Mocha & Baksheesh and Letters & Seals pages.
Last Ruby rule (Big Box): when the last Ruby leaves the Sultan’s Palace, the Gemstone Dealer or the Coffee House, put a Ruby from the supply on that Place’s Ruby symbol.
1 Wainwright

Pay 7 for a Wheelbarrow extension: each adds one space to every goods row. When you add your 3rd extension, take 1 Ruby from the Wainwright at once (only once).
2, 3, 4 Warehouses

Fabric (2), Spice (3), Fruit (4): fill that good — move its indicator as far right as your Wheelbarrow allows. Green Mosque tile: pay 2 for 1 extra good of any kind.
5 Post Office

Take the goods and Lira shown in the 4 uncovered spaces, then move the leftmost Mail indicator of the top row down. When all four are down, move them all back up. [Pegasus] The Pegasus Depot promo can replace the Post Office (Pegasus Depot).
6 Caravansary

Take 2
Bonus cards, then discard 1 from your hand (any of your cards). Only here may
you take cards from the top of the face-up discard pile, which you may look through.
[Caravan] With the Caravan Leader promo you also take the Caravan tile (Caravan Leader).
[Mocha] Also take 1 coffee (Mocha & Baksheesh).
7 Fountain

Bring back any number of your Assistants to your stack. No Assistant is needed here and you pay no other Merchants. Sending your Family member here also brings your Assistants back. [Letters] Your first Fountain action also gives your Companion (Letters & Seals). [Kebab] The Kebab Shop promo can replace the Fountain (Kebab Shop).
8 Black Market

Take 1 red, yellow or green good, and roll both dice: 7–8 = 1
, 9–10 = 2, 11–12 = 3.
You may roll first. Red Mosque tile: turn one die to 4 or reroll both, once.
9 Tea House

Call a number from 3 to 12, roll both dice: at least that number gives you that many ; otherwise 2 Lira. Red Mosque tile works here too.
10, 11 Large and Small Market

Sell 1–5 of the goods shown on the top Demand tile, then move that tile to the bottom of its stack.
| Goods sold | Small Market (11) | Large Market (10) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 2 | 3 |
| 2 | 5 | 7 |
| 3 | 9 | 12 |
| 4 | 14 | 18 |
| 5 | 20 | 25 |
The Large Market’s (dark) tiles ask mostly for jewelry and fabric; the Small Market’s (light) tiles for spice, fruit and fabric.
12 Police Station

If your Family member is here, free it: put it on any other Place and (if you like) take that Place’s action. It has no encounters — no Lira paid, no Governor or Smuggler. It stays there until another Merchant catches it (that player gains 1 Bonus card or 3 Lira) and sends it back here.
13 Sultan’s Palace

Deliver every good shown up to the next Ruby (any good where the four-colour square appears), then take that Ruby. Each Ruby asks for more goods than the last.
14, 15 Small and Great Mosque

Take one Mosque tile you do not own: your Wheelbarrow must hold at least the goods it shows (2 to 5 of one kind); pay 1 of them. Owning both tiles of one Mosque gives you 1 Ruby from it at once. Great Mosque: blue and yellow tiles; Small Mosque: red and green. Abilities: Mosque tiles.
16 Gemstone Dealer

Pay the highest uncovered number in Lira (12 to 23) and take the next Ruby: each costs 1 Lira more.
