Classic Game Variant
A lighter version using the first edition’s rules without the Off-Shore Bank.
What it changes
The classic variant removes the Off-Shore Bank and $0 bluff cards, while keeping the Bank 
loan cards beside the 
cash supply. Use the normal setup, with these components and rules removed:
- Do not use the Off-Shore Bank board, auction tokens, bid tiles, reserve tokens, or bluff cards.
- Skip the Win Bank Auction step each turn.
Call Bank is unavailable. - Pay loan interest to the general supply. When you default, remove seized containers from the game instead of returning them to Bank lots.
- During another player’s delivery auction, bid at least $1 unless you have no cash. Government subsidies still come from the supply. If you buy out your own shipment, pay the supply.
The 2026 rulebook recommends the regular Bank rules for a first game because the Bank can help the economy recover when a player makes a costly mistake.
