How many cards do I discard for an action?
Discard one card for each action, including each action you pass. Scout also requires two additional cards, so it costs three cards in total. Return a Wild card to its face-up area instead of placing it in your Discard Pile.

Can I skip lower-level Industry tiles when I overbuild?
No. Overbuilding follows the normal Build rule: take the lowest remaining tile of that industry from your Player Mat. Develop lower tiles away first if you need to reach a higher level.

Can a Network route pass through an external market?
Yes. A connection is traced along Link tiles, and the type of location along that route does not break it. Merchant market spaces can lie between connected locations.

When can I use Merchant beer?
Only during a Sell action and only for a sale to the Merchant beside that beer. If you use it, take that Merchant's bonus. Beer needed for the same Industry tile can come from a Brewery as well, but another Merchant's beer cannot be substituted.

Are Merchant tiles rearranged between the Canal and Rail Eras?
No. Leave them in their setup positions. After Canal scoring, refill each empty beer space beside a non-blank Merchant; then shuffle the Discard Piles and deal new Hands.

When do flipped Industry tiles score victory points?
At the end of each era. Flipping raises income immediately, but the VP value printed on the tile is counted only during era scoring.
