Choose the player count, then tick steps off as you go. Ticks are kept on this device.

Shared setup

Sit opposite each other if possible, so each player can see the other player’s revealed Fight Deck.
Choose two different Fighters or use the Standard or Competitive Draft from the Team Building page. Place their Fighter boards in front of you.

Put a Health marker on the Start space of each Fighter’s Health track.
Take Power cubes to match each Fighter’s Base Power.
Place each Fighter’s Power cubes in their supply above that board.
Use the Fighters’ Guide to set up any special tracks or tokens for your two Fighters.
Take both Fighters’ ten-card decks, identified by their Fighter symbols. Set aside each Fighter’s Starting Card, marked by the star and black border.
Choose the order for your two Starting Cards and place them face down as your Fight Deck, with the first card on top.
Shuffle the other nine cards from each Fighter together to make your 18-card Build Deck.
