Teach the Game
Build a vegetable collection around scoring cards, then total every condition.
How you win
“Draft vegetables and scoring cards to make the best salad.” On your turn, take one scoring card or two vegetables. The player with the most points after the shared supply is gone wins.
The boards
There is no board. Three face-up scoring piles sit above a six-card vegetable market. Keep your drafted cards face up in your own tableau.
A turn
Take one scoring card from a pile, or two vegetables from the market; if only one vegetable is left, take that one. Add the draft to your tableau. Once during your turn, you may flip one scoring card to its vegetable side; this is optional and cannot be reversed. Refill empty market spaces from the pile above each column, flipping cards to their vegetable sides.
How the game ends
The game ends when the scoring piles and vegetable market are empty. Score all your own scoring cards using your full set of vegetables. The same vegetable can count for more than one card. On a tie, the player later in turn order wins.
Ways to score
| Source | How it scores |
|---|---|
| Your scoring cards | Apply each card’s condition to your vegetables; add all card results, including negative points. |
| Majority or minority cards | Compare your count with every opponent. A tie at the top or bottom still qualifies under the rulebook’s tie rule. |
| Set and combination cards | Count complete groups as specified by the card; unused vegetables remain available for your other scoring cards. |
What each resource is for
| Piece | Why it matters | How you get it | How you use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vegetable cards | They satisfy scoring conditions. | Draft up to two from the market, or turn a scoring card over. | Count your full vegetable tableau against every scoring card you own. |
| Scoring cards | They define how your salad scores. | Draft one from the top of any pile. | Keep it for end scoring, or flip it once to gain its vegetable. |
Teaching tips
- Check the market before deciding between a scoring card and two vegetables.
- A scoring card is not locked in: you can later trade it for its vegetable.
- Read majority, minority, and set conditions carefully; your vegetables can serve several cards.
