Tips & Strategy
Teach Point City clearly, build an early resource engine, and plan around the changing market.
How to teach it
Start by showing both sides of a card and how market replacements flip to the opposite side. Then teach the two-card draft, the immediate payment for buildings, and the one-turn delay before a new building supplies permanent resources. The market tokens help players remember which side to use when replacing cards. The rulebook’s quick reference gives a compact turn order.
Your first game
Try to build a few affordable permanent resources early; they make later buildings easier to pay for. Keep your civic tokens in mind while choosing between buildings: a token that rewards a pair or set becomes more valuable when your city supports both types. Watch which cards will flip in the market when you draft, since a useful replacement may help the next player.
If you have no affordable adjacent building pair, taking two cards from the draw pile is still a legal turn. Newly drafted Resource cards can pay for a Building taken alongside them, but a Building’s permanent resources cannot pay for another Building that same turn.

In solo play, advance the top Market marker one column each AI turn; move the side marker only when the top marker wraps to the first column. The designer confirmed this sequence in the solo marker ruling.
