Solo
Point City’s one-player game against a predictable AI drafter.
Setup
Use the 2-player setup: remove the same numbers of cards and reveal 10 Civic Tokens. Take one Ingenuity Starting Card and go first. Arrange the Civic Tokens in one line, keeping their order. Put one Market Token above the first card column and the other beside the first card of the second row.
Your turns and the AI turn
Take your normal turn and refill the Market. The AI then takes the card at the intersection of the two markers and the card immediately below it, wrapping from the bottom row to the top. It never pays a Building’s cost: every card it takes goes directly into its City. When it takes a Civic Building, turn the leftmost Civic Token face down beside its City.
Advance only the top marker one column to the right each AI turn. When it moves past the last column, return it to the first column and move the side marker down one row; after the last row, move that marker back to the top. This makes the AI draft predictable across the grid. The designer confirmed this movement sequence because the diagram can be misread (FAQ).
Score the AI
Both sides score their Buildings and Civic Tokens normally. In addition, the AI scores for each permanent resource it has:
| Difficulty | Permanent resources | Civic Token |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | 1 point per resource | 3 points each |
| Medium | 1 / 2 / 3 points for 1 / 2 / 3+ of each resource type | 5 points each |
| Hard | 1 / 3 / 6 points for 1 / 2 / 3+ of each resource type | 7 points each |
On Hard, the AI also scores 1 point for every Ingenuity Resource card it drafted. Choose Easy first if you are learning the solo flow. The rulebook does not specify a tie-breaker for a solo tie (FAQ).
