Plutus & Phlegyas (expansion)
Two more Guardians: Plutus, the red Guardian who sets up toll Desks in Hell, and Phlegyas, the black Guardian whose Bells move a Soul sideways.
Short tag: [P&P]
What it adds
Two more Guardians — the red Guardian Plutus with 8 Desks (2 per player) and the black Guardian Phlegyas with 9 Bells — plus a Dante miniature. They come in the Deluxe edition and in the separate Plutus & Phlegyas box; the rules are on the Deluxe sheet (Red Mojo).

Setup changes
Add Plutus to the red Guardian cards and Phlegyas to the black ones before you draw (setup step 9). If drawn:
- Plutus starts on the far-left shield of the brown circle; each player takes their 2 Desks.
- Phlegyas starts on the far-right shield of the blue circle; the Bells go beside the board.
All the general Guardian rules apply.
Plutus
Plutus, blindfolded god of wealth, lets you set up a customs office in Hell.
- Play: move Plutus to an empty shield. Choose a shield next to him — empty or not — and put one of your Desks just below it. If both your Desks are already out, move one of them.
- Effect: whoever moves a Soul across another player’s Desk — from the shield above it on
to a shield beyond — pays that player 1
. Stopping on the shield above the Desk
costs nothing. - A Desk does not occupy a shield: it neither blocks Souls nor fills a circle when the Phlegethon is adjusted.

Phlegyas
Ring a Bell and the ferryman of the Styx comes to help — with room for one more Soul in his boat.
- Play: do not move Phlegyas — take a Bell. You may keep several; they stay in your play area.
- Effect: at the start of a later turn, instead of your usual Soul move, return a Bell to the supply. Move Phlegyas to an empty shield, pick a standing Soul in that same circle and slide it to any empty shield of that circle. Then play your Hell phase with that same Soul, moving it down to a lower circle as usual. The second move is compulsory: you cannot slide a Soul that could not then descend.
