Solo: Ayllu

Play against an automated clan whose choices are driven by shuffled activity and Step markers.

Setup changes

Choose one of the four difficulty boards printed on the reverse of a Player board. Give the Ayllu one colour and set up its Maize, Islands, Boat, Tambos, Temples and Bonus markers on that side. Set up your Player board as for two players. Set up the Main board, Lake board and shared supplies as for two players, including the market stacks and shared Viracocha and Llama supplies. You are first player.

Shuffle the five Activity tokens face down. Put the Ayllu’s four coloured Step markers in the cloth bag and return the gold marker to the box. Use the solo board’s printed setup and all four difficulty values; do not apply the multiplayer Step tile rule to the Ayllu.

Ayllu Day turn

The Ayllu takes the same number of turns as you. For each turn, flip its next Activity token and draw one Step marker at random from the bag. When the bag is empty, return all four markers before drawing. Move that Ayar the number of spaces shown by the token, place a Tambo by the solo priority rules below, and perform the activity at power equal to the current round plus the token’s modifier. Resolve Raymi tiles as usual. If the token shows a Temple, it places one after the activity.

For its first starting activity, the Ayllu places a Tambo on a slot matching either activity shown by the Raymi tiles at movement space 8. If both are available, it chooses the one whose Ayar partner is in the higher Temple row.

Tambo priority

When several legal slots are available, ignore activities already full on the solo board. Then look for a slot matching the activity of the next unscored Raymi tile on the moved Ayar’s path. If none is open, check the later Raymi tiles on that path in order. Next, choose the topmost unscored personal-bonus activity with open slots; then the topmost activity whose Moons have not scored. If still tied, use the slot closest to the Ayar.

Ayllu activities

Pottery: Take the greatest number of Pots allowed by power. Prefer Pots showing Viracocha, then the lower market slot. Fill the solo pottery track left to right. Its Inti Suns and Moon value are printed above its track.

Weaving: At power 1 or 2, take the top Textile from that stack. Above 2, take one from stack 1 and one from stack (power minus 1). Fill the solo weaving area from left to right; use its printed Sun and Moon values.

Terrace farming: Plant Maize equal to power, taking it left to right from the solo board. Emptying a Viracocha box gains one from the adjacent supply for the Ayllu; however, every Viracocha it gains becomes a Llama. Use the visible Sun and rightmost Moon values on the solo board.

Reed bundling: Move the Boat by the number of spaces equal to power. For each section entered, place its Island on the Lake slot whose Moon value matches the highest space reached in that section. If its target yellow space already has your Island, use the next higher empty yellow space; if none, use the next lower. Take a Viracocha from an adjacent area when shown, then convert it to a Llama. If there is a choice of adjacent areas, choose the area whose highest-value adjacent Island has the lower printed number, as stated in the Osprey errata.

Night and game end

Resolve the multiplayer Night steps with these Ayllu changes:

When the Ayllu token shows a Temple, it chooses the activity for which it currently has the most Moons among its remaining Temple types; ties go to the topmost activity on its solo board. Put it in the row matching the drawn Step marker.
