Seasons and Actions

Place instructors, take six kinds of action and resolve building orders at season end.

The year and the season

Prestige lasts three years, each with Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. At the start of a season, reveal an Event when the current pair of seasons begins. Spring and Fall reveal a card; its effect applies immediately, and its second effect is announced one season ahead. The card is discarded after the second season in its pair.

Each player places five instructors on available numbered spaces. Instructors are placed on the lowest available number in the chosen action area. The player-count markings remove spaces that are not used at the current count. The number determines action order within that area. Resolve the action areas in the order printed on the board.

The six actions

The printed player-count pattern limits which action spaces are available. The setup page summarizes the count-specific spaces and opening resources.

Complete building orders

When you place an order, pay its resources and workers immediately. Put the materials on the contract and the workers in the building area. At season end, return the materials and resolve the finished tile. Increase the Master Builder’s experience by one for each completed order; only the Master Builder gains experience. Its experience can reduce the workers and materials needed for a contract as shown by the craftsmen board.

Workers shown as exhausted on the contract move to the Inn; return the rest to your supply. Each craftsman normally has one active order. Carpenter II and Plasterer II can take two orders on different floors, using separate instructors. Carpenter III, Plasterer III and Stonemason III can complete two orders in one action, for different floors and up to four of the same resource in total. Use the printed paired-order worker costs. Do not assume a craftsman can take a second order unless its tile permits it.

Season-end sequence

Resolve Factory instructors, then Building Orders. The relative positions of the remaining instructors and the order instructors set next season’s player order. Reset the three marked Market prices to their starting values, collect basic gold income, then each player may buy back one worker from the Inn for 1 gold. Advance the season and resolve the next Event timing.

At the end of Winter in years one and two, resolve the annual wood levy and reveal the next tier of craftsmen. The final Winter has a shortened ending: resolve Building Orders and the wood levy, then proceed to final scoring without ordinary income or worker recovery.
