Tips & Strategy
Practical teaching order and survival priorities for the cooperative prehistoric adventure.
How to teach it
Start with the shared goal: complete the stone tableau before the tribe accumulates five
skulls. Explain that each player secretly chooses a card from their deck, everyone reveals together, and then the group decides who will resolve each revealed challenge. End the teach with the night phase, where food, missions, and the next round’s reshuffle matter.
Your first game
Use one of the easier level combinations in the supplement and keep the first session focused on resolving cards together. For a first game with four players, the rulebook recommends no more than three groups. Before committing to a dangerous site, check whether the group has enough strength, tools, and health to pay its printed costs. During the night, count food for every person still in the tribe, including people who joined during the day.
Videos versus the rulebook
The publisher’s Paleo - How to Play - Rules video from Hans im Glück Spieleverlag demonstrates the simultaneous card choice and shared challenge resolution. Use the rulebook for exact setup, card symbols, and module-specific exceptions.
