Turn and Actions

Select, produce, distribute and act across your six harbor segments.

Turn sequence

Each turn follows three steps: Select, Produce, Act. Choose a Harbor segment with at least one ship. Gain one resource for each ship there, plus one extra for each Ponto; Administrate produces nothing. Then pick up all ships in that segment and sow them one at a time into successive segments clockwise, beginning with the next segment. The action printed in the segment receiving the final ship is your action. You may decline it if you cannot or do not want to pay its costs.

During Act, you may Trade any number of times, before, during or after your main action: pay 3 gold for one permit, wood, wheat or stone. A Harbor upgrade can reduce that price to 2 gold. Resources in a segment’s storage are spent to pay actions; remember production occurs before ships move.

Sail

Pay the permit cost for 1–6 travel steps. Each step moves one Corbita forward one space along a sea route. You may split steps among your Corbitas, but each route can hold only one of your ships after the first two shared approach spaces. Ships cannot move backward; ships from different players may share spaces. A Corbita at a Destination cannot move again.

Crossing a Discovery link immediately claims one available Discovery tile there. Gain its immediate reward; keep animal icons on your Asset board for set scoring. At a Transit tile, gain its shown resources when you stop there. Destination rewards depend on arrival order. Merely stopping at a Port tile does nothing; having reached or passed its city permits you to Construct there.

Build Ships

Pay the next cost on your Asset board to build ships; the Harbor discount applies once to the whole action. Add a Corbita to any Harbor segment. A Ponto also goes into a Harbor segment and sends one Corbita from that same segment to the Ostia starting space. You cannot build a Ponto while any of your Corbitas remain in the Local Sea. The rulebook says “up to 2” ships per action, but the publisher’s rulebook editor publicly corrected this: the real limit is whether a Corbita can be added to the main board, which requires all your other Corbitas there to be in the Distant Sea. The exposed ship icon at the top of the Asset track counts as a visible icon; the brown storage-area guide icons do not count. The fifth and seventh ship grant Triumphs, and completing your ship track ends the game.

Deliver

Choose an Order card. Pay its wheat cost for the first Amphora and its reward; if available and affordable, pay the optional bonus cost for the second Amphora. Gain the card’s resources and keep its Nobleman/Noblewoman icons face up for endgame sets. You may claim several cards in one action, up to the four cards currently in market. Refill the market to four when done. Taking the last Amphora from the supply triggers the end, though Amphoras remain unlimited for scoring.

Construct

You may place discs at yellow or orange Port Cities where a Corbita has reached or passed the city and you have no disc yet. Damascus is also reachable for construction once a ship has passed Palmyra, even if it took the other branch. Pay the next stone cost on your Asset board for each disc; the discount applies once across the whole action.

Place each disc on the city’s construction space, atop any existing discs. Each player whose disc is below yours gains 1 gold. Take that city’s building and add it to an empty Harbor upgrade space. The Port tile may grant an immediate reward, a Purchase option, or endgame points. The fourth and sixth discs grant Triumphs; placing the final disc ends the game.

Purchase

Use each Port with your disc to buy its printed resource or effect by paying the shown gold. Respect per-action limits. You may use multiple eligible ports in one Purchase action. You may also buy any Public Honor card for which you qualify at a cost of 4 gold; each scores 12 points. Qualification is checked from currently visible icons/tokens and map position; endgame-only icons do not qualify. Purchases may be combined in the same action if you can afford them.

Administrate

Choose Sail, Build Ships, Deliver or Construct and resolve it normally. Then sow every ship in the Administrate segment clockwise as though you had selected it, and take the action where the last ship lands. You may not choose Purchase as the first action. If the second action ends in Administrate, you may repeat this process. Administrate itself produces no resources.
