First game

Round markers to win: 3

Shared table

Choose the traditional shared-deck format. Shuffle the cards and place the shared deck in reach of everyone.
Leave room beside the deck for a shared discard pile.
Reveal the bottom card of the deck. The player who most recently felt that emotion chooses who starts. The group may choose a random starter instead.
Prepare a way to track each player’s running score and three round wins. Paper, an app, dice or other small markers work.

Each player

Deal five cards to each player. Keep hands hidden.

Before play

The chosen player takes the first turn. Turns then proceed clockwise.
