May I claim a completed route just to score the endpoint cities, without building an office or upgrading?

Yes. The city points and any marker are resolved, then you may skip the optional office, ability, or special scoring reward. Return the route pieces to general stock if you skip that reward.

If I control both cities at the ends of a route, do I score again when someone claims that route later?

Yes. Each route claim checks both endpoint cities again, before the new office reward. The same player can earn both points.

Can an office skip a vacant space if the next piece does not fit?

No. Use a piece matching the leftmost open office. A trader goes on a square; a merchant goes on a round office. If the route does not contain a matching piece, choose another eligible reward.

Does Income let me retrieve pieces from the board when the general stock is empty?

No. Income moves available pieces from general stock to personal supply, up to the Bank value. It does not reclaim board pieces. A displacement recovery is a separate rule.

When the 20-point end trigger is reached, do we score the rest of that route?

Complete the current Create a Trade Route action, including all city points and its chosen reward, then stop play. Any unused actions are lost.

Can the Additional Trading Post marker also develop an ability?

No. The marker changes the Establish Trading Post reward and does not grant a second reward.
