Learn Great Western Trail
Learn the game in 5 short steps. Everything links to the full rules.
Drive cattle, score points
You are a rancher. Again and again you drive your herd along the trail from Texas to Kansas City and ship it west by train. Points come from deliveries, buildings, stations, hazards, objectives and your cattle. Most victory points wins.
Move along the trail
Each turn: move your cattleman forward a few locations, use the one you stop on, then draw back up to your hand limit. On neutral buildings and your own buildings you take their actions; anywhere else, one small auxiliary action.
Hire three kinds of worker
Cowboys buy better cattle, craftsmen put your own buildings on the trail, engineers push your engine up the railroad. Workers come from the job market, which fills up as players reach Kansas City.
Kansas City
Reaching Kansas City you add three new tiles to the board, earn money for every different cattle breed in hand (plus certificates), and deliver: place a disc on a city no higher than your hand’s value. The farther your engine, the less you pay for transport.
The end
The game ends when the job market fills up: the player who places the last worker has finished, everyone else takes one more turn, then you score eleven categories.
