Build a tableau of medical facilities, specialists and programs.

Card types and effects

The Medical deck contains Starting cards, Insurance Companies, Research Projects, Resident Programs, Specialists, Medical Direction, Consultations, Suppliers, Outpatient Clinics, Clinical Sessions and Facilities. Pay a card’s printed cost, then resolve any immediate reward. Ongoing rewards stay active while the card is in play. Action rewards are used once per round and rotate back during Preparation.

Paying costs

Costs can require Credits, Research or treated-patient progress. Congress Doctors can count as Staff or Research. If you cannot use a card, discard it from hand for 3 Credits during your turn, or spend one Research for the same amount.

Insurance Companies

Advance on one of four coloured Insurance tracks to gain its reward at each level. Level 5 may award a bonus based on how many of your companies have reached level 5. A track cannot go above level 5; an attempted advance at the top has no effect.

Clinical Trials

Clinical Trials increase Hospital capacity and have costs paid by reducing the treated-patient track. Do not pay with Quality of Care. Each successful cure advances the treated-patient marker, except curing a Terminal Patient.

Specialist 21 erratum

The printed cost on Specialist card 21 is wrong. Its correct cost is 40 Credits, as confirmed by designer Carlos Michán Amado. See the official clarification.

Congress Doctors

When you claim a Congress Doctor from a board threshold, also draw one Medical card. Quality of Care’s marked bonus spaces for these tokens are 9 and 12. A Congress Doctor is spent as Staff or Research, not as a general-purpose resource.
